What is: Singulair 4mg is a medication, which is used in long-term treatments of asthma and prevention of asthma attacks in adults and children older than 12 months. The main active ingredient of this drug is Montelukast and clinical trials have proven that patients, taking the medication experience fewer asthma attacks, less need to use their inhalers, and fewer asthma symptoms during the day and fewer awakenings at night.
How to use: take the Singulair 4mg tablets exactly as your doctor has prescribed. Do not take them longer than needed, do not take higher dose than the recommended one, and do not discontinue the treatment unless your doctor has advised you to. The medication is used in long-term treatments, but for asthma attacks, you need to have an emergency inhaler or other medication at hand. The medication is typically taken once per day in the evening and the tablets could be taken with or without food. You need to take Singulair 4mg for as long as prescribed, even if you do not have any asthma symptoms at the time.
Side effects: the most common side effects are fever, diarrhea, cough, respiratory infections, headache, sore throat, stomach pain, earache, ear infection, and sinus infection. More serious adverse reactions such as bad or vivid dreams, agitation, hostility, hallucinations, confusion, depression, and other mood and behavior changes are possible as well.
